About the area

Home to "Cottage Garden"

Compton Dando is within easy reach of Wells with its beautiful cathedral, Bath with its shops and the Roman Baths, Bristol (home of SS Great Britain and Brunel's Clifton suspension bridge), Cheddar with its cheese (the technique for making it was developed here in Compton Dando) and its caves. There are more caves to visit at nearby Wookey Hole.

Nearby, in Stanton Drew, amateur archeologists can eat at the pub and rest their pint on the ancient standing stones. In the next field is one of the lesser known stone circles in Britain (as old as Avebury and Stonehenge).
